Tips for Storing and Organizing Kids Winter Clothes
As much as we love winter, there always comes a time to put our cold weather gear away until next year. Follow these tips to simplify the process and save yourself time.
1. Clean and mend before storing.
It’s easy sometimes to skip this step, especially with outdoor wear, but you’ll be glad you did it. The next time the clothes or accessories are needed, you can just grab them and go without first having to face a load or two of laundry. Wash or clean everything, including coats, pants, hats, mittens and boots, too.
2. Organize by size.
What fits one child this year will surely be used by a different child next year. By storing winter clothes grouped according to size, you’ll minimize the time spent next winter finding what fits who.
3. Keep matching sets together.
Hats, gloves and scarves can be as hard to keep track of as socks! Before your store away the winter accessories for next year, be sure to match all pairs and group all related sets. Large Ziploc bags are a great way to keep matching gloves and scarves together. Remember that spending 10 minutes on this now can really save you headaches when the next winter season rolls around.
4. Store the clothes away from everyday areas.
Try to store winter clothes and accessories away from everyday traffic areas such as frequently used closets.? You don’t need to see boots and snowsuits hanging in your closet all through the year. This will greatly reduce clutter and also help preserve your winter wear.
5. User large plastic storage containers
Reduce the amount of storage space needed by keeping your winter gear contained. Large plastic storage containers are easy to find in any discount store and are a great way to keep all of your winter goods in one place. If all of your items have been cleaned, everything can be stored together, including footwear.
